ReMaDe Network UK

The Wales Environment Trust is a member of the ReMaDe Network UK. The Remade Network UK connects organisations and programmes working to find uses for waste as a resource and to minimise its impact on the environment by identifying alternatives to landfill.

At the Wales Environment Trust, we create new markets for recyclates (recyclates refers to any products such as aggregates, glass, wood, plastics, metals, paper and card, biodegradable materials and end-of-life products such as cars, fridges and electrical equipment, that can be recycled).

We help businesses to develop economically and environmentally sustainable ways to maximise the use of recyclate for business benefit, while minimising waste destined for landfill sites.

Wales Waste Strategy and the EU Landfill Directive are key driving forces in the diversion of biodegradable waste from landfill outlining key milestones for this to be achieved. Clearly facilities are needed to provide suitable treatment for these waste streams and the resultant markets for the recycled materials they may produce.
