Community gives thumbs up to Anaerobic Digestion plant.

At a public meeting in Holt, Wrexham, over 100 members of the community listened in interest to the plans proposed by Richard Tomlinson of FREE. When the floor was opened to questions, the team responded to the enthusiastic contribution leaving the community in an upbeat and positive mood. An exit vote at the Kenyon Village Hall venue was 48 to 1 in favour of the renewable energy plant.

Commenting, Wrexham Assembly Member, Lesley Griffiths said:

'The world is changing. We all now realise we have a responsibilty to examine very closely, all methods of sourcing renewable energy - and this includes the scheme proposed in Holt.

'Wales is at the forefront of embracing a variety of renewable energy schemes that include wind and tide. I believe the innovative proposal in Holt is equally valid as an alternative energy source and to their credit, I think the people of Holt understand this.'

Richard Carter from the Wales Environment Trust explains:

'It was a really positive event. The decision to engage the community directly on the planned development was a great success and the example should be followed by other similar developers. The attendees raised a number of pertinent concerns that the developers addressed and also took the opportunity to voice their support for the initiative and commitment to tackle climate change in the community.'
