
The Wales Environment Trust is a member of the ReMaDe Network UK. The Remade Network UK connects organisations and programmes working to find uses for waste as a resource and to minimise its impact on the environment by identifying alternatives to landfill.
Targets
The Welsh Assembly Government’s Document, “Wise about Waste: The National Waste Strategy for Wales” sets the following targets:
To re-use and recycle construction and demolition waste:
• by 2005, to at least 75% of construction and demolition waste produced;
• by 2010, to at least 85% of construction and demolition waste produced.
In addition to these,to divert commercial and industrial waste from landfill:
• by 2005, to reduce the amount of commercial and industrial waste sent to landfill to less than 85% of that landfilled in 1998;
• by 2010, to reduce the amount of commercial and industrial waste going to landfill to less than 80% of that landfilled in 1998.
