Sustainable Aggregates

It is essential to the economic and social well being of the country that the construction industry is provided with an adequate supply of the materials it needs, but not to the unacceptable detriment of the environment or amenity.

The Sustainable Development Scheme adopted by the National Assembly for Wales in November 2000, acknowledges that our environment is Wales’ greatest asset, that there is an inextricable inter-dependency between our economy and our environment, both having an impact on our communities and our way of life.

A thriving and competitive economy, where finite resources are used prudently, must be compatible with a cleaner and protected environment that includes the natural, social, cultural and historic environment

To ensure, that aggregate demands are met, it is essential that natural resources are supplemented with recycled and secondary aggregates.
