The Wales Environment Trust is a member of the ReMaDe Network UK. The Remade Network UK connects organisations and programmes working to find uses for waste as a resource and to minimise its impact on the environment by identifying alternatives to landfill.
Introduction
Primary aggregates production in Wales has declined from a peak of 26 million tonnes in 1989, to just under 20 million tonnes in 2001.
However, the increased use of secondary and recycled materials is particularly important in Wales, where recycling for use as aggregates is not as advanced as in other parts of the UK.
